Fuel Tech’s SCR post-flue gas treatment technology can dramatically reduce NOx emissions from boilers, incinerators, reformers and many other types of heat recovery equipment. We leverage our deep expertise in SCR design, alongside extensive hands-on experience in plant operations, to optimize performance and minimize operational disruptions. Our application review begins with a thorough analysis of fuel and flue gas properties, performance goals, and site-specific constraints. This essential data drives the optimization process, guiding both catalyst selection and configuration. Our technology has been successfully used in facilities for coal, biomass, oil, natural and waste gases, municipal and hazardous waste.

  • Guaranteed nitrogen oxides (NOx) reduction performance up to 98%
  • Proven expertise to optimize existing SCR systems using flow modeling, flow control devices and ammonia injection grid modifications
  • Improve efficiency using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling
  • Single-source responsibility for projects from application analysis through to implementation
  • 55,000+ megawatts experience of SCR process design

Using CFD modeling, we can recommend optimal arrangements of duct configuration and flow correction devices that maintain appropriate flue gas velocities, temperature distribution, fly ash distribution, and NH3 to NOX distribution within the SCR system. Our goal is to achieve SCR performance targets with a single catalyst layer, enhancing operating load flexibility and broadening fuel options. In addition, reducing the catalyst volume results in lower system pressure drop and it also requires less outage time for replacements.
